About

A writer and host exploring the roads we walk.

I tell honest stories about identity, love, family, grief, masculinity, and the quiet work of choosing peace.

I'm Jonathan Westley — a writer, podcast host, and student of history. My work lives at the intersection of memoir and reflection: the small moments that shape who we become and the long roads that bring us home to ourselves.

On The Jonathan Journals, I publish written stories and personal essays. On Conversations on the Road, I share weekly episodes — some solo reflections, some conversations with friends along the way.

I'm currently studying history — African-American history and the African diaspora — the long path our people have walked, and what it still has to teach us. When I'm not writing or recording, I'm traveling, reading, and documenting the journey.

The Books

Work in progress.

Three projects taking shape on the page. Each is a different kind of reckoning — with memory, with stillness, with the men who came before.

I

Jonathan Journals, Vol. I

A collection of essays gathered from the Substack — stories on identity, love, family, and the quiet work of choosing peace. The first bound chapter of an ongoing journal.

II

10-Minute Up Reflections

Short meditations meant to be read in the space between one thought and the next. Small enough for a coffee. Large enough to stay with you.

III

The Legacy of Men

A Story of Fathers, Sons, and the Silence Between Them

A memoir-in-progress about what gets passed down, what gets left unsaid, and the long road back to one another.

The Podcast

Conversations on the Road

A weekly podcast about life as it unfolds — the lessons we learn, the love we've experienced, the growth we pursue, and the healing we still need. Along the way, we make meaning and connection through honest conversation.

The show travels two roads. Short Drives are solo reflections under thirty minutes — the thought you can take with you. Long Roads are full conversations with friends along the way — the kind that earn the miles.
